I have a Topaz 40 and have not ran into that problem. Pull the vp3 file up in StitchArtist and see if there is something that isn't looking right. You could try to re-save the .be file again. Can you load up the .be file here, I'll gladly take a look.

I know it won't help you with Essentials, still, the software for your machine may have a section for adding notes.

It looks like the file was a machine file at one time and saved as a .be file. It won't be editable in StitchArtist. If you like I can recreate the file in .be format that is editable, just let me know.

machine softwares recognize limited palettes of color, could be why Embrilliance has many more colors than your machine interprets correctly. Saving into the .Jef format will be in tune with the machine's capability

You can try just running the installer again. Don't remove what is installed already, it will most likely update files. worth a try.
