Do I misunderstand the use of DRK?

I recently added DRK to EE I was already using. My plan was that I could use my 5x7 files in the 4x4 format and reduce the density. So far, this has not been exactly successful, the stitchouts are still very dense. The one time I was able to dramatically reduce the stitch count (by selecting different material) resulted in really thin see thru spots. Maybe it was never intended to do this? Forgive me if this is obvious to experienced embroiderers, but do I have to buy both 5x7 files and 4x4 of the SAME FILE in order to get a good stitchout?
Thank you.

Hi Tridntrue!

I would think that the best way to resize your larger design is to do it in Essentials first.
You can make a design 50% smaller in Essentials and it adjusts the stitch count of the design as you resize it.

Watch this Video showing how to resizes designs.

If after resizing you find the design too dense then perhaps use the Sweeper tool in DRK.
There are a couple of Videos showing how to check the density of a design and also how to use the tools in DRK.
Here are the links to the Videos for DRK.

I would suggest that you do a stitch out of your design after resizing it in Essentials to see if you do need to adjust the density some more by using DRK.

Does this help you at all?

I guess I have the same question about DRK, which I just purchased.

I read the description, and thought this might be a good way to decrease the number of unneeded stitches in certain designs, such as some I've purchased from Urban Threads. I love their designs, don't get me wrong, but they are very heavy and dense.

I pulled up one of the designs, the stitch count is at 57,856. Based on what I thought the program would do, I ran the cleanup stitches vacuum, and the stitch count INCREASED to 58,549 !!

I'm totally confused now.

Is there a complete manual anywhere on the website that will give clear examples on how to do different functions with the modules?

I've used the help section within Embrilliance when I have it open, but it's pretty generic, and not much help to someone new.

Thanks all.

I understood that when you resize a design in Embrilliance, it should automatically adjust the the stitch count to a point, however, I am trying to resize a single run quilt design from 8x8 to 6x6 and it only adjusted by 7 stitches. I tried using the density repair and nothing happened there either. Any hint's?

I thought I could type in a large letter, then type a name which goes ontop of the letter and the DRK would omit the stitches underneath the name. I tried this and it does not remove the stitches underneath. Does DRK not do this?
