Creating a Shape with simple outline

Post by LisaSewBubbles » Mon Dec 08, 2014 11:12 am

Sometimes you may want to have a filled shape with an exact outline - there is no need to do extra steps - using the copy and paste functions you can get a matching outline.

Create your object in your favorite manner - here we have used one of the library shapes:

Select the fill type you want - here we have selected and a motif fill and adjusted the spacing to get the look we wanted.

Select the object in the Object pane on the right, choose copy and paste from the shortcut buttons. The pasted object is placed on top of the original in the Design page (can't really see it) and added to the end of the object list for the current design. You can always change the stitching order in the object pane by dragging and dropping or using the Right click popup menu.

Choose a new stitch type for the pasted object and adjust it's properties

This is a very simple way to create shapes with matching outlines. For those that are interested and are using StitchArtist Level 2, this is also how I created the two color fill with matching outline for the "days" as shown here:

I have read your post a couple of times, but I can't figure out why you adjusted the spacing on the motif part?

I understand the concept of being able to overlay to do the gradient..but where do I find how to make the fill on a letter only a partial fill.... for that matter how can I change the fill at all?? What font would be used to do this.
