A member of the Facebook user group, 'StitchArtist Addicts' asked an interesting question about how to make an applique cut file where the applique is the 'line'.

The example cited was a right-side-up pentagram. As an experiment, I made one with a circle and star 21 (from the Library) as guides - two copies of each, sized (shift drag corner handle) and aligned.

That's the background shape, and lock them (object tree).

Then you can click over them (draw with points) to get the magic 'holes' and outer circle.

Set all to one color and make that color a 'Position'. Do a cutter 'Save all'. Now you have an FCM file (I tried it as SVG but it should be the same.)

With that background in place, you'll need to then make your applique runs manually.

Here you can see what I did.

Brian,
You rock!! I appreciate your assistance with the design I posted on FB.
I wanted to let you know that I had tried (previous to FB post) to do part of what you had done
with the library of shapes, albeit quite a few missing steps. I had also
brought a line image in,to no avail and had gotten frustrated. I was a bit nervous about
the symbol I asked for help-but happily I wasn't blasted for it!
Thank you immensely for your walk thru on achieving this design!
